Spend A Day Volunteering at KC Valley With Us 🐾🐕

For World Animal Day, we swapped our desks for a day at KC Valley in Rawang, and honestly, we’re still not over it. 🥹 With up to 400 dogs alone, plus cats and goats, there were A LOT of furry faces to meet.

🐶 First Stop: Meeting Everyone

We started the day with a tour around the shelter, getting a closer look at where the animals live and learning more about the work that goes on behind the scenes. And the dogs? SO. FRIENDLY. 🥹 The second we walked in, we had tails wagging, happy faces and plenty of dogs coming over for attention. It was basically impossible to leave without making a new furry friend.

We got to:

• 🐾 Feed the dogs
• 🐶 Play and hang out with them
• 🤎 Give them plenty of pats and cuddles
• 🐱 Spend time with the cats
• 🐐 Say hi to the goats
• 👀 Tour the shelter and see the space they call home

There were MANY more, but we’d need a whole blog just for them. 😂

🧱 We Came to Help, But First, We Asked What Was Needed

We initially planned to donate food, but after contacting KC Valley, we learnt they already had enough to run a food bank for other shelters. What they needed most was building materials, so we adjusted our plans!

We donated RM1,000 worth of red bricks, cement and steel mesh to support the shelter’s ongoing work. Our team of six also spent an hour helping build a road from scratch, covering just a small section. It gave us a glimpse of the time and effort it takes to maintain a shelter of this size. 🤎🐾

A little reminder: Every shelter has different needs. Before donating, reach out and ask what would help them most.

It was a genuinely humbling experience and gave us a little glimpse into the effort that goes into maintaining a space for so many furry friends. We left with a newfound appreciation for the people who show up and do this every day. 🤎🐾

🤎 The Little Things That Stayed With Us

From wagging tails and curious noses to seeing how KC Valley makes the most of recycled materials, our visit left us with a lot to appreciate. 🥹🤎 The shelter even operates without conventional electricity, with structures like its toilets built with help from students as young as 11 years old! It was a reminder that every little bit of help counts, whether it’s donating supplies, volunteering or spreading the word. We came to lend a hand, but left inspired by the creativity, teamwork and care that go into looking after so many animals. 🐾
