An Intimate Bordeaux Wine Dinner at Soleil – A Night to Remember
On March 13th, 2025, Albert Wines returned with yet another Exclusive Bordeaux wine dinner, this time held at the refined Soleil Restaurant & Wine Bar, a venue that perfectly blends sophistication with culinary artistry. Following the success of our previous Bordeaux event, this evening brought a fresh setting, new wine pairings, and another opportunity to explore the timeless beauty of Bordeaux wines.
A Taste of Bordeaux in Every Course
Wine lovers from across KL — from couples and close friends to families celebrating milestones — joined us for an intimate 5-course experience. Each dish was thoughtfully paired with premium Bordeaux selections, curated by our sommelier, David Stephan.
Canapés
The evening opened with a vibrant trio of canapés that brought together bold flavours and elegant presentation:
-
Semi Dried Tomato Tart with Spanish Garfish and Feta
-
Crab & Prawn Croquette with Sambal Mayo
-
Japanese Oyster topped with Lemongrass Kombucha Granita
Each bite offered something distinct — from savoury and creamy to crisp and refreshing. Paired with the crisp and aromatic Chateau Peyredon Lagravette 'Chardonneret' Bordeaux Blanc, this refreshing start set the tone for the night.
1st Course – Grilled Octopus paired with Chateau Cantemerie
Beautifully charred and tender, the grilled octopus was paired with fregola sarda and earthy sunchoke for texture. The Chateau Cantemerle 2011 brought depth and maturity to the dish — a silky Haut-Médoc with dark fruit and subtle spice. Together, they formed a seamless pairing that drew nods of approval across the room.
2nd Course – Hazelnut & Gruyère Crusted Lamb Tenderloin paired with Chateau Labégorce
This dish was a textural delight — the crust gave way to perfectly tender lamb, sitting on a bed of beluga lentils and sweet carrots. The Chateau Labégorce 2014, from Margaux, offered finesse and structure, complementing the richness of the lamb with elegant tannins and dark berry notes. It was hearty yet refined — a favourite for many that night.
3rd Course – Mazura Beef Ribeye paired with the Pomerol and the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Robust and deeply satisfying, the ribeye came with chanterelle mushroom tapenade and black garlic, creating a rich, umami-packed bite. Guests had the rare opportunity to compare two distinct Bordeaux reds: the Pomerol (Chateau La Croix du Casse 2015), plush and velvety; and the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru (Chateau Laroze 2010), with earthy elegance and long aging potential. It was a masterclass in Bordeaux terroir.
Dessert – Pistachio Strawberry Tart paired with Le Tertre du Lys d'Or Sauternes
By the time dessert arrived, the room was glowing — and Chef Ann Lee’s tart closed the evening on a high. The balance of nutty pistachio, tangy strawberry, and delicate pastry was impeccable. Paired with the golden sweetness of Le Tertre du Lys d'Or Sauternes 2018, it was a luxurious and joyful finale.
More Than Just a Dinner – It Was a Wine Journey
Beyond the fine cuisine and Bordeaux wine pairings, it was the atmosphere that made this wine dinner in Kuala Lumpur truly memorable. Guests remained comfortably at their tables, enjoying lively conversation and a relaxed, intimate setting. Whether they were seasoned wine lovers or discovering Bordeaux for the first time, each course added a new layer to the evening — offering a deeper appreciation for French wines, their terroir, and timeless craftsmanship.
At Albert Wines, we believe wine is best enjoyed when it brings people together — and this event was exactly that. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us, and we’re already looking forward to the next chapter.
Our journey through fine wine continues — stay tuned for the next indulgent affair.
