When The Macallan Lead Whisky Maker, Sarah Burgess met with world’s renowned Artist Sir Peter Blake it was a meeting of two minds, inspiring the careful selection of casks to create a complex yet perfectly balanced single malt. Macallan’s collaboration with Sir Peter Blake began in 1986 when he designed a label for a set of twelve 1926 60 Years Old single malts. The label artwork in Blake’s signature style reflects the time that the sherry-seasoned cask was laid down to patiently mature at our Distillery during the 1920s. In 2012 we collaborated again to celebrate 80 years of Sir Peter Blake. The resulting piece of art is like a treasure trove of colour and stories, containing eight whisky miniatures, each with a label reflecting a particular decade of Sir Peter Blake’s life, surrounded by intricate artwork representing our whisky making process.

For this 3rd collaboration release, the label that adorns this limited edition single malt has been created by Sir Peter Blake digitally. Taking inspiration from Sir Peter, the presentation box has been created with colours that inspired his art – blue and green with natural textures. The presentation box houses the bottle, a certificate detailing the history and heritage on which the art was based, and artwork printed on a scroll. This brightly coloured scroll contains a collage representing anecdotes from the wider collection, portrayed in Sir Peter Blake’s distinct style. A tracing paper overlay provides information on each character from The Macallan’s history that Sir Peter chose to include in his art.

With a nose Rich in dried fruits and spices with hints of orange and clove. Dried fruits again on the palate, with cracked black pepper and treacle, accents of vanilla and orange oil. A long, rich oak finish with cinnamon and cacao.

Oak-aged for 24 months, Its bright scarlet hues mirror equally bright and deliciously savoury fruit. The compact palate provides coherent interplay between fruit and tannin with no sense of overripeness or oaky angularity. It’s mouthwatering now, but resist so its texture evens out fully.

Each variety is harvested separately and manually. Vinification takes place in oak fermenters for the reductive varieties (Mourvedre, Syrah) and in traditional enameled concrete tanks for the Oxidative grapes (all the others). Once the malolactic fermentation is finished, the Famille Perrin blends the different varieties. The blend is then aged in oak Foudres for a year before being bottled.

The 2020 Beaucastel has lots of Mourvèdre character in its bright red and blue fruits as well as spice, pepper, and assorted meaty nuances. With medium to full-bodied richness on the palate, it shows the fresh, elegant, yet still nicely concentrated style of the vintage and is unquestionably another impressive, classic vintage for this cuvée. It should offer some pleasure in its youth as well as evolve for 20+ years in cold cellars

Mumm Marlborough is a distinctive Sparkling Wine that marries the best of New Zealand Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes with the Methode Traditionnelle style of French winemaking. The Result is a refine, elegant wine of exceptional quality and delightfully fruity notes, with delicate lemon-lime and vanillin aromas, the palate beautifully weighted, creamy and toasty with a deliciously chalky finish.

Bright garnet colour with ruby reflections. The nose is very complex. It releases notes of cherry and black pepper. We feel these southern notes of garrigue and black olive as well as a discreet touch of vanilla. It is an expressive wine dominated by ripe fruit and spices (roasted mocha, blueberry and wild blackberry). Good aging potential with a more promising development. 

The quintessence of the great terroirs of Provence. Le Lion et Dragon rouge will go perfectly with game such as hare stew à la royale or veal cheek casserole with asparagus.

Torresella Pinot Grigio is a great example of the classic Northern Italian grape variety that displays a delicate fragrance of spice leading to a mellow, well balanced palate. A dry White Wine with a straw yellow hue. It stands out for its finesse and its persistence on the nose and palate.

Rose Majeur is the perfect embodiment of the originality and finesse of the House’s wines. Made predominantly from Chardonnay it is crafted with the addition of a small proportion of Pinot Noir from the best crus of the Montagne de Reims. A low dosage enables it to express the House style, both feminine and generous, with great elegance.

Pale, with a delicate pink hue. Charming, generous and open. Reveals aromas of red berries (strawberries, raspberries) and vine peaches. Light yet expressive. This wine takes its name from the walls that protected the monastery at Poblet during the Mercenary Wars. he unmistakable identity of Grans Muralles is thanks to the stony, slate ground (Licorella) of the region, and the grape varieties used to make it. One century after the phyloxera plague the Torres family have begun to recuperate autoctonous grape varieties believed to be extinct, such as Garro and Samso, using modern viticultural techniques. Together with red Garnacha, Mazuelo and Monastrell they create the unique spirit of this wine, aged in new French oak (Tronçais thin grain) for 18 months.

Warm and compact full-fruit aromas are spicy, creamy and integrated, with nothing held in reserve. A huge palate stampedes with grapy blackberry, ripe plum and burn. There’s power and some fiery aggression to this Catalonian classic, with chocolaty oak settling in alongside flush berry power on a loud finish.

The white of the vintage is the 2016 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, which comes from a high-density planting of 30-year-old vines located west and south of the town of Leognan. A blend of 75% Sauvignon and 25% Semillon raised in 35% new barrels, it offers a massive bouquet of crushed citrus, salty minerality, white flowers, and grapefruit. Racy, full-bodied, concentrated and beautifully textured, it’s a brilliant wine that has more flesh and texture than the 2015 and will keep for two decades or more. Hats off to the team at Domaine de Chevalier for this brilliant, brilliant white! 

The extended bottle aging allows the wine to develop a sophisticated bouquet with aromas of ripe dark fruits, such as blackberries and plums, complemented by notes of spices, chocolate, and a hint of floral undertones. On the palate, Warre's Bottle Aged LBV Port is full-bodied and velvety, showcasing concentrated flavors of rich fruit, balanced by well-integrated tannins and a long, smooth finish. The wine's structure and finesse make it an excellent choice for enjoying on its own or paired with a variety of dishes, including cheeses, chocolate desserts, and roasted meats.

The ancestry of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut can be traced back to 1846, when Maison Perrier-Jouët launched its historic Cuvée K, the world’s first lightly dosed champagne in the style today known as “brut”. Dosed at a sugar level of less than 5% – daringly little for an era when champagnes regularly contained up to 40%. Maison Perrier-Jouët became renowned for its brut champagnes, which it was able to produce owing to the fact that its high quality grapes required very little added sugar – a philosophy maintained to this day.

The Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut is delicate, elegant and balanced. The striking freshness and vivacity of the floral and fruity fragrances (yellow fruits and fresh fruits) take root, before giving way to subtle notes of vanilla and butter, lending the wine a fruity and consistent character. The notes of cherry plum, lemon and bergamot orange emerge first, then make way for the flowers of fruit trees, such as lime and honeysuckle. These are followed by notes of butter, madeleine cakes and vanilla sugar. Lingering notes of grapefruit, white peaches, green pears, apple trees and green hazelnuts round off the taste.

Remy Martin VSOP embodies the perfect harmony of powerful and elegant aromas. It is the symbol of the Cellar Master’s art of blending. Dominant notes of vanilla thanks to longer ageing in French Limousin oak barrels, followed by ripe apricot, baked apple, and an elegant floral note. A perfect harmony between the firm character of ripe fruit and subtle notes of liquorice, offering a great complexity of elegant and powerful aromas. Well-balanced, structured, and multi-layered, it combines the roundness of ripe fruit with a silky texture.

The wine is matured for around 14 months in predominantly French oak barrels, adding structure and complexity while preserving freshness. Oak integration is precise, contributing subtle smoky and cedar notes, fine tannins, and a long, refined finish that elevates it above the classic Crianza style.
