Rocas is a blend of 38% Malbec, 25% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Grenache, 8% Petit Verdot, aged for 22 months, in French oak barrels (65% new).  The 2020 vintage of Rocas de Seña has a beautiful purple colour. Subtle aromas of coffee and Asian spices with a touch of mocha from the oak create a very deep and complex nose.  The palate is vibrant and tense with good density and shows multiple layers of fresh fruits, spices, and balsamic notes with a hint of smoke. It displays great freshness and a smooth texture with a long and juicy finish.  This is a very elegant and splendidly youthful wine.

The extended bottle aging allows the wine to develop a sophisticated bouquet with aromas of ripe dark fruits, such as blackberries and plums, complemented by notes of spices, chocolate, and a hint of floral undertones. On the palate, Warre's Bottle Aged LBV Port is full-bodied and velvety, showcasing concentrated flavors of rich fruit, balanced by well-integrated tannins and a long, smooth finish. The wine's structure and finesse make it an excellent choice for enjoying on its own or paired with a variety of dishes, including cheeses, chocolate desserts, and roasted meats.

The 2017 Chateau L’Evangile is 100% Merlot, and 2017 is the first time this cuvee has not included some other variety. Aged 16 months in 75% new barrels, it’s a ripe, powerful L’Evangile loaded with chocolate-laced black fruits, mocha, toasted spice, and subtle oak. These carry over to the palate, where the wine is medium to full-bodied, has plenty of oomph and power, yet stays flawlessly balanced and even elegant. It’s a stunning example from the vintage that’s going to benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and cruise for two decades.

Chateau la Croix du Casse is a wine of charm and seduction, a product rich in finesse, very representative of its terroir. Lots of underlying iron and earth notes dominate this dense ruby/purple wine, which also has plenty of cassis, black cherry and spice. Full-bodied yet so fine with poised tannins. Polished and beautiful. Stunning.

Thanks to the favorable soil and climate, Chianti Castiglioni reflects its lands characteristics as a soft, pleasantly fruity wine noted for its strong and well defined personality. Deep ruby red with scarlet hues typical of younger wines. The nose is intensely fruity, with notes of cherry, wild strawberry and blackberry alongside Mediterranean floral and herbal scents.

An intensely fruity wine, with bright ruby-red colour with tinges of purple. The bouquet is rich with aromas of cherry, blackberry and wild strawberry followed by elegant Mediterranean scents. On the palate, its soft, elegant and vibrant taste is immediately apparent. The finish is intensely and pleasantly aromatic. Pair with full-flavoured dishes such as pappardelle and meat sauce, as well as roast chicken, sauteed beef with vegetables, and medium-aged cheeses.

Modest but sure of its presence, Clinet lies at one of the highest points upon the renowned plateau at the heart of Pomerol – instantly recognisable by its red shutters and beautiful roses. It is home to one of the oldest vineyards in the appellation, with traces of the vineyard’s existence dating back to 1595. This vineyard is equally famed for offering wine with an incomparable character and quality. 

Clinet has been on a hot streak lately and the 2009 appears to be the greatest wine ever made at the estate, surpassing even the late Jean-Michel Arcaute’s monumental 1989. A blend of 85% Merlot and tiny amounts of Cabernet Franc (12%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (3%), this big Pomerol boasts an opaque, moonless night inky/blue/purple color in addition to a gorgeous perfume of blueberry pie, incense, truffles, black raspberries, licorice and wood smoke. Viscous and multi-dimensional with silky, sweet tannin, massive fruit concentration and full-bodied power, there are nearly 4,000 cases of this thick, juicy, perfect Clinet. It should drink well in 3-5 years and keep for 25-30 years.

Rose Majeur is the perfect embodiment of the originality and finesse of the House’s wines. Made predominantly from Chardonnay it is crafted with the addition of a small proportion of Pinot Noir from the best crus of the Montagne de Reims. A low dosage enables it to express the House style, both feminine and generous, with great elegance.

Pale, with a delicate pink hue. Charming, generous and open. Reveals aromas of red berries (strawberries, raspberries) and vine peaches. Light yet expressive. Shows great freshness, due to the high proportion of chardonnay in the blend. Notes of red gooseberries and raspberries, with a lengthy and voluptuous finish.

An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries.

A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). This vineyard, which is situated on the high plateau of Pauillac adjacent to Mouton Rothschild, appears to have done everything perfectly in 2009. This cuvee should shut down in the cellar and re-open in a decade or more.

The wines of Chateau Pontet-Canet obtained organic certification from Ecocert and biodynamic certification from Biodyvin in 2010 and from Demeter in 2014.

Fermented entirely in aged oak barrels, sealed with a natural cork and cellar aged for more than twice the time required by the appellation, with a moderate dosage, 8 grams per liter. To the nose, La Côte aux Enfants Champagne 2013 emanates aromas of mint and ripe fruit, rounded off with aromas of acacia honey and citrus fruit. On the palate, A lively and complex taste with wonderful acidity. Flavors such as lemon, ripe fruit and curry accompany candied red fruit and buttery notes.

The blend pays tribute to the Right Bank’s black grape variety, so the Carillon d’Angelus 2017 expresses all the smoothness and opulence of Merlot (90%) with the elegance of Cabernet Franc (10%) that brings finesse to distinguish the wine. With its beautiful dark color, the Carillon d’Angelus 2017 instantly charms with its bewitching aromatic bouquet. The nose discovers ample and pure fresh fruit aromas. The palate starts with a sumptuous attack that reveals the magnitude of the vintage’s personality. The generous concentration extends to a powerful finish that ends in elegance and harmony.

Bright ruby colour. Floral fragrances mixed with intense aromas of red fruit (red currant and cherry) mixed with pepper notes. Well-crafted and well-structured. Deep and tight texture. Long and generous aftertaste with crunchy fruit notes.  Cooked pork meats, pâté, pie, grilled or roasted meat, poultry, and all the local cheeses (Epoisses, Langres, Citeaux, BrillatSavarin...) and Comté.

Composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Pontet-Canet gives up beautifully fragrant notes of rosehip tea, lilacs, cinnamon stick, cloves, dried leaves and underbrush with a core of kirsch, raspberry coulis, warm plums and red and black currants plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate is refreshing, minerally and wonderfully elegant with a well-played texture of approachable, plush tannins and a long, fragrant finish. Beautiful. Aging took place in 50% new and 15% in second fill barrels and the remaining 35% in amphorae for 16 months, much of the material for which came from the soil at Pontet-Canet!

Deep, dense colour with glints of violet. Very expressive nose with black fruit and subtle notes of toast. On the palate, the attack is powerful, dense and structured. The mid-palate is full-bodied, with a fine, well-balanced tannic structure. The finish has plenty of volume with superbly ripened tannins, while remaining elegant and refined, thanks to the quality of the grapes of this exceptional vintage.

Made from 84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc brought up in plenty of new oak, its ruby/plum color is followed by an awesome bouquet of blackberry jam, smoked meats, licorice, truffle, and hints of chocolate. Thick, opulent, super ripe, and decadent, with a full-bodied mouthfeel that needs to be tasted to be believed, it still stays balanced and fresh on the palate and is already impossible to resist. It’s going to keep for 3+ decades.

The 2010 Haut Bailly has consistently been a fantastic wine, and at seven years of age I have no reason to alter that view. It has a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, wet stone, black olive and a light marine influence. It is still backward compared to other vintages, but it has not relinquished one iota of its intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This is a voluminous Haut Bailly, one that is beginning to stretch its muscles, with a gentle grip in the mouth with a wonderful saline finish. There is huge potential locked into this wine, but patience is needed.
