1958 is the plantation year our small Los Hoyales plot, comprising 1.8 hectares of old Tempranillo vines running east to west, in parallel with the nearby Duero river. This vineyard is the expression of life and time, and we follow its journey closely so as to integrate, vintage after vintage, a biodynamic culture that is measured and congruent. For the extraordinary quality of its grapes, we see this modest vineyard as one of Ribera’s greatest.

Description

The wine undergoes a longer maturation, ageing for 18–20 months in French oak barrels, with a judicious selection of new and used wood to support complexity without overpowering purity of fruit. This extended oak regime contributes integrated spice, subtle cedar and tobacco nuances, and a layered, refined finish that rewards cellaring and elevates the wine’s long-term potential.

At Fuentelún, the vines are planted in light, sandy soils with some clay and silt. The vineyard is 3.5 hectares and nearly 40 years old. The maturity of the Tempranillo vines provides security and consistency, producing high-quality grapes with great potential for finesse.

Since 2008, they have followed biodynamic viticulture at Fuentelún. This approach treats the vineyard as a living system connected to its environment. The methods aim to regenerate the soil, support the vines, and achieve harmony with nature. By observing the vineyard daily and using biodynamic practices, we ensure a healthy, balanced vineyard ready for environmental challenges.
