Boulard Calvados is the first name in super-premium Calvados, the celebrated apple-based spirit unique to the Normandy region of Northern France. Boulard was Founded in the late 1820s by Pierre-August Boulard.

Produced from a blend of Calvados from the Pays d’Auge AOC aged from 2 to 5 years, the Boulard ‘Grand Solage’ is characterised by its apple fragrance and its amber colour. The pure initial taste of the Grand Solage is followed by a fruity flavour and the vanilla taste of oak. Perfect with a meal, it is also highly appreciated as an aperitif with tonic or on ice.

Boulard is the first name in super-premium Calvados, the celebrated apple-based spirit unique to the Normandy region of Northern France. Founded in 1825, the company Boulard has been passed down from generation to generation. The small family firm founded by Pierre-Auguste Boulard at the beginning of the 19th century has become an internationally renowned company thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of his descendants.
Boulard's time-honored reputation begins in the firm's 150 acres of orchards and 35,000 apple trees in the Pays d'Auge AOC district, the officially designated source of the finest apples in Normandy. Over 120 varieties of apple, from 800 varieties grown in Boulard's orchards, are selected for production of Boulard Calvados (over twice the number of varieties stipulated by the governing body regulating Calvados production).

Like a good old friend

The Boulard 'Grand Solage' Calvados is like a good old friend - reliable, predictable, and very appropriate for serving with, as the Italians say, "Dolce", i.e., desserts. It is a bit "youngish" and can be considered of being not that smooth. However, the lasting aftertaste and aroma of a fresh apple are exquisite and pleasant, and somewhat even a bit romantic (no kissing restrictions applied) :-)! By the way, it can also be served as an aperitif or be a part of a cocktail. Very versatile product, indeed.
