Meet Frescobaldi: Tuscany’s Most Historic Wine Family
This May, we’re raising our glasses to a family whose wines have been poured for poets, kings, and everyday wine lovers alike—Frescobaldi.
With more than 700 years of winemaking heritage (yes, seven centuries!), Frescobaldi isn’t just a name—it’s a legacy. And it’s one we’re proud to spotlight this month with a special discount at the bottom!
🍇 A Family Steeped in Italian Wine History
The Frescobaldi story begins all the way back in 1308 in the heart of Tuscany. Their wines once graced the tables of Michelangelo and King Henry VIII—because apparently, even royalty had great taste.
Fast forward to today, and the 30th generation (yes, 30th!) of the family is still at the helm. Led by Lamberto Frescobaldi, they continue to honor their heritage while pushing boundaries—balancing tradition with innovation in every bottle.
🌿 Why Frescobaldi Stands Out
Frescobaldi is not a one-vineyard wonder. They own seven distinct estates across Tuscany, each telling a unique story of the land:
-
Castello Nipozzano – Legendary Chianti Rufina. A Sangiovese lover’s dream.
-
Castello Pomino – Up in the Florentine mountains. Think elegant whites and sparkling gems.
-
Tenuta CastelGiocondo – Montalcino’s pride. Bold, complex Brunello territory.
-
Tenuta Perano – Pure Chianti Classico beauty, shaped by high-altitude hillsides.
Each estate is rooted in sustainable farming, respect for nature, and a deep understanding of Tuscany’s terroir.
💡 Not Just Wine—A Mission with Heart
In 2012, Frescobaldi launched the Gorgona Project, a groundbreaking initiative on Gorgona Island—Italy’s last prison island. Inmates nearing release work alongside the Frescobaldi team to grow grapes and produce wine, gaining skills, dignity, and a second chance.
The result? Gorgona Bianco and Gorgona Rosso—rare, meaningful wines with a story as powerful as their flavour.
