Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a blend of Japanese malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita, and is a smashing Japanese blended whisky that displays a harmonious flavour profile (as you might expect from the name) with a good kick of fruity Sherry notes. Citrus blossom, mango and juicy raisins. A slight touch of vanilla-rich oak. Chocolate orange, creamy wood notes, dried apricot and sultanas, cinnamon. Plum and ginger. Toki is a blended whisky from Suntory’s three distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Toki has a different composition to another Suntory blend, Hibiki, as its main components are Hakashu single malt and Chita grain whisky. This is a round and sweet blend with a refreshing citrus character with a hint of vanilla oak, white pepper and ginger and a spicy finish.

This exciting, multiple award-winning whisky by Kamiki takes an innovative step by finishing this blend in Sakura wood, otherwise known as Japanese Cherry Blossom after aging in Yoshino-Sugi casks (also known as ‘Japanese Cedar’).
The effect of the sakura wood on this dram are outstanding. On the nose, it brings ripe banana, candied chestnuts, cinnamon and hints of pine. As you continue to sniff, there’s a distinct warming woodiness reminiscent of a sauna. These combine with a centre palate woodiness, sandalwood and gentle spice, before sweet cherries cut through the more savoury notes, leading to a floral, spring-like finish. A little water brings out hints of hibiscus and Turkish delight, with lingering peppery notes that all mingle elegantly.

Miyagikyo Single Malt is a range of single malt expressions from the Miyagikyo Distillery. Nikka’s founder Masataka Taketsuru chose a valley in the Miyagi prefecture as the site for his second distillery, and started its operation in 1969. He aimed to make a complete contrast between the two distilleries, Miyagikyo and Yoichi, with different natural environments and production methods.
Miyagikyo malts are described as elegant and fruity. Made from light peated and non-peated malted barley, whiskies distilled in pot stills heated by indirect steam express a signature fruitiness and delicate mouthfeel.
This no-age-statement version was released in 2016 as a permanent product that showcases the elegant style of Miyagikyo malts, when all age-statements were discontinued. This bottling has estery aromas generated by carefully selected yeast strains along with distinctive Sherry cask influence.
Originating in Kyoto in the 1920s as a way of utilising leftover leaves, stems, stalks and twigs, Hojicha is a roasted green tea from Japan. The tea has a deep umami character and notes of nori seaweed, roasted hazelnut and delicate smoke, with dry and woody tannins.
Pairs well with sushi or mushroom risotto.
Kamiki is a unique blended malt whisky made using Japanese malts whiskies combined with specially selected malt whiskies from around the world. After blending, the whisky is finished in casks made from yoshino-sugi (often referred to as ‘Japanese cedar’). It’s a particularly aromatic type of wood, and Kamiki is said to be the first whisky ever to enjoy a yoshino-sugi cask finish!
Left to mature longer in the Japanese cedar casks, the Intense maintains balance as it brings forth intensified notes of juicy summer apples, raisins, and plums. Incense joins alongside the dark, rich presence of smoke and toasted wood. The finish lingers longer than the Kamiki Original with sandalwood, pepper, and cinnamon fusing beautifully.
