A beautiful, Classic Chablis: light, crisp, mineral and without oak, with a nicely developed bouquet with lingering aromas of flower and citrus. Opens with lightly spiced, white orchard fruits with a fresh mineral touch. On aeration, a subtle, mineral note appears. Good persistence. Fresh and full in the mouth with a delicate mineral tension. Long mineral finish. A superb Chablis with great character.

The 2016 Ausone is a blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc picked 10-14 October and 14-19 October, respectively, at 40 hectoliters per hectare. It is matured in 80% new oak with a light toasting, a move that Alain and Pauline Vauthier have made in recent years just to lessen the impact of the oak.
There is a palpable stateliness about the Ausone this year. It is extraordinarily pure and articulates its terroir as well as any vintage that I can remember over the last 20-odd years. It is not as flamboyant as other Saint Emilions, more correct and precise. The palate is very elegant and precise. I adore the exquisite balance of this Ausone, the precision and fineness of the tannin, the effortlessness that it conveys. This is classy and sophisticated, satin-like in texture with a long and sensual finish.
Not an Ausone that is going to blaze across the sky, this is a cerebral, intellectual Ausone that will entrance for many years to come.
Crafted in a fresh, elegant, restrained style, the wine exhibits a golden yellow color with green hues, offering an enticing nose of stone fruit, honey, nuts, and brioche. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with vibrant, tense acidity, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish.

Lillet is a classic French Aperitif, crafted in the Bordeaux region since 1872. It is a blend of Bordeaux wine, macerated liqueurs (mostly citrus) and quinine which bring a delicious bitterness. Lillet Rose is made with Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon and shows light aromas of berries, orange blossom and grapefruit; Fresh, lively and fruity. Great served very chilled or in cocktails.
Matured for 12 months in fine lees in a mix of tanks and barrels, the Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru has a tensile, mineral-driven, malic bouquet that you would assume derives from a much cooler growing season. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This is a Chablis that is cool, calm, and collected, displaying fine harmony and precision toward the persistent finish.

The nose displays lifted top notes of honeyed apricot followed by some raisin, toffee and spice. Rich and luscious palate texture showing excellent concentration with mouth-filling flavours of honey, raisins, apricot and spice. Clean finish with a long aftertaste of honey, apricot and raisin.

A gem that readers should snatch up is unquestionably the 2017 Domaine De Chevalier, which is based on 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot that spent 18 months in just 35% new French oak. This deeply colored effort offers classic blackberry and blackcurrant fruits as well as medium to full body, complex notes of tobacco, gravelly earth, and chocolate, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. This is a classy, flawlessly balanced 2017 that offers up pleasure even today, yet it will keep for 30+ years.
Superb gold colour, clear and shiny. The nose reveals a magnificent, very fresh and particularly floral aromatic bouquet dominated by delicate notes of white flowers. Of great elegance, the palate offers a perfect balance between roundness, finesse and complexity with tasty aromas of peaches and citrus fruit, a silky, soft and refined texture and very nice freshness. The finish is long thanks to a fine bitterness which brings a delicate saline note. A wonderful vintage of Beaucastel white.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Clinet opens slowly to reveal vibrant red and black fruits: red currants, black cherries, plums and cassis with touches of roses, yeast extract, wood smoke and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied with firm, grainy tannins and a taut, muscular palate of tightly wound fruits and compelling mineral accents, it finishes long with wonderful purity and fragrant earth accents. The tannins here will need 4-5 years of bottle age, and I’d lean toward drinking bottles over the following decade.
The nose opens with spice and fruit notes that mingle with an underlying sweet, sugary note. The palate has a silky smooth mouthfeel, with a touch of spice and deep berry notes that balance the sweet undertones. The tannic influence of the Red Wine creates a unique, short, dry finish, encouraging another sip.
