Thanks to the acquisition of vines planted at a place called in Pontet and the chai built in Fumet, Roger Bardet developed the first cuvées of the Pontet-Fumet castle in 1962. His grandchildren, today watch over this beautiful inheritance located in the appellation of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru: a magnificent terroir by the Dordogne from South to West Graves.Sporting a beautiful dress with garnet and ruby reflections, Château Pontet-Fumet reveals a complex and elegant nose.Silky and generous on the palate, its dense and balanced structure asserts itself by a good length.

Bargylus White, a unconventional blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, elegantly combines strength & refinement it has a strong color, the range of aroma is perceivable through the fresh fruit & minerality that translates the very shingly soil. The balance between sweetness, that comes with sunniness and the grapes, full maturity, and salinity that comes with limestone, allows Bargylus to convey a strong soil identity and an inimitable taste. Fading yellow with light green reflections. The noses expresses exotic fruit aromas of papaya and lemon with a touch of saltiness as well. On the pallet the wine is very elegant, round, keeping a lot of freshness due to a good acidity – bringing great ageing potential.

Crafted from organically-grown grapes

This show a golden colour, distinctive of black grape varieties ; very fine bubbles. The nose offers beautiful aromatic complexity ; ripe fruit and spicy aromas ; hints of roasted apples, apple compote and peaches. Subtle combination of structure, length and vivacity ; bubbles like velvet ; pear, brioche and spicy aromas, notes of fresh walnut.

Offering a stunning bouquet of ripe cherry and strawberry fruits, it has classic Burgundian spice and dried flower aromatics, medium-bodied richness, moderate tannins, and a rounded, supple texture that offers nicely integrated acidity. This is a beautiful rose with pale fruit, fresh and balanced. The fruit is crunchy on the nose (clementine). Intense freshness and great aromatic elegance in this blend – a wine of gluttony and pleasure. At the same time mineral, lively, complex, and elegant.

Pale golden in colour with yeasty aromas on the nose. Very dry but with toasty flavours in the mouth. Round and richly flavoured, full bodied and mature, with perfect balance between firmness and freshness, length equal to its richness, and with a persistent fine bead. In champagne terms, this is the definitive “masculine” style.

Bright salmon pink in colour, with on the nose fresh cherries, strawberries, and peaches with subtle hints of minerals. Light in body, with fruity notes of ripe red berries and stone fruit, hints of stoney minerals on the mid-palate and perfect, medium-plus acid structure. A ripe, ample, and balanced mouthfeel of great delicacy. Pure and tasty with a fine bitterness on the finish. This lovely organic rose will go wonderfully with sea bream ceviche or black olive bread. 

A pleasureful, festive wine, to be enjoyed as an aperitif or around a light and summer meal with beautiful Mediterranean fish, light salads, or a varieties of BBQ dishes.

The nose displays lifted top notes of honeyed apricot followed by some raisin, toffee and spice.  Rich and luscious palate texture showing excellent concentration with mouth-filling flavours of honey, raisins, apricot and spice. Clean finish with a long aftertaste of honey, apricot and raisin.

Crafted from a blend of old vines of Carinena, Garnacha and Syrah and aged for 14 months in French oak (25% new). Bright dark garnet colour with purple reflections. Pure nose, ripe plum, red fruit, garrigue, aniseed, mild oak and tar aromas. The palate is ample with a nice fresh bite underneath the unctuous fruit, balanced oak, plenty of pepper and garrigue with a soft extraction and delicate tannins leading to a long and digest finish.

Bright ruby color. Fragrances of peony on greedy aromas of red fruits, spices and fine woody notes. The attack is frank, with a very fine aromatic expression. Beautiful energy on a supple texture and well-integrated tannins. Good length with spicy notes.  A great classic Burgundy, ideal with braised or roasted meats or a brioche sausage

This is an extremely friendly red, pretty purple colour with shiny reflections. The nose reveals a seductive bouquet of red fruit and spices. Full of delicacy, the palate is full of freshness and well balanced, with aromas of cherries and very soft tannins, giving this wine great drinkability.

Soil : Clay, chalk and marl

Site : In the heart of the Mâcon wine growing region, South of Burgundy. The two villages Viré and Clessé form a unique "terroir" on slopes facing South-East. In Viré, the soil is chalky with large layers of clay. In Clessé , the soil structure is slightly different with a combination of chalk and clay mixed with liasic marls combined with oyster- fossils which convey to the wine a specific minerality.This is one of the best white wines of the region combining suppleness and minerality.

The Vintage 2022 : After a winter characterized by marked variations in temperature between January and February, spring started with mild temperatures. A sequence of cold weather in April was followed by warm temperatures in May but the lack of water was very noticeable and could not be compensated by the rainy storms of June. Summer was marked by several and long heat waves and the storms of the end of August were most welcome. The harvest at Chanson started on August 30 with a team of 100 persons and ended on 13th September. 2022 vintage was quite generous both in volume and quality and the white wines are well-balanced, precise and refreshing.

Tasting : Pale gold colour. Refreshing fragrances of white flowers mixed with white fruit and fresh muscat on a hint of wet stone. Well-balanced and lively. Very nice and refreshing finish.

Food pairing : Fresh and yet flavoursome Vietnamese chicken or fish dishes would work wonderfully, as would a range of fresh salads and even slightly creamy chicken pasta or tofu stir fry. You could even go for fish tacos or mild Mexican dishes (but chilli will overwhelm the flavours).
