In 2010, the producers - including Miguel Torres - signed their first declaration of shared commitments, and VIGNO began taking shape. The goal of VIGNO is to better position the Maule Valley by setting it apart through the development and production of character-driven wines that originate from old vines grown in dryland conditions.
The grape for this special cuvee comes from a single vineyard, with the vines aged over 80 years old. Aged in oak barrels for 12 months, this wine has an intensely pigmented colour of ruby; Floral and fruity aroma on a background of toasted notes from the cask, with an expansive palate develops beautifully with delicate black fruits notes, complemented by hints of bay and mint.

Grosset Gaia is produced from cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc grown at the rocky, isolated, wind-swept two-hectare Grosset Gaia Vineyard. This tiny hand-tended vineyard planted 33 years ago produces reds with an amazing consistency of fruit flavours and style.
The 2016 Grosset Gaia has voluminous perfumes of blackcurrant, bramble and briar that are bold and enticing. It is powerful, dense and full-bodied, tightly wound around its firm core, yet softened by its velvety texture. It has a richness and concentration of flavour, balanced by substantial yet ultra-fine tannins. While more seductive and appealing on release than many vintages of Gaia, the 2016 shows every indication of being as age worthy as wine loves have come to expect.

Composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is a little closed to begin, soon revealing floral notes of lilacs and lavender over a core of black raspberries, warm blackberries and forest floor plus touches of star anise and stewed black tea. Medium-bodied, the palate is a bundle of energy and tension with softly played tannins and beautiful floral and black fruit layers, finishing with a long-lingering whisper.

Crafted from younger vines of the estate, this exuberant blend of Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc brings apple, pear, lemon, pineapple, melon & citrus zest. Fresh with an excellent acidity, medium body, with a long and mineral finish. Full-bodied, aromas of apple, green mango and stonefruit have a concentrated core, yellow floral, spice and chalk minerals. Vibrant acidity flows effortlessly with a creamy mouthfeel, and chalky minerals and spices contribute to the mouthfeel. This white blend features lively acidity and fruit purity and is elevated by elegant spice elements.

An excellent balance of sweetness and acidity, highly recommended as an aperitif, with spicy Asian cuisine and after dinner. Classic semi-sweet German Riesling, with green apples and citrus, pineapple and melon, juicy, enticing, lasting taste and low alcohol.
Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, subtle edge lightening, ripe heart cherries, fine herbal spice, tobacco nuances, smoky touch. The nose is refined, elegant but above all fruity as desired on flavors of blueberry and blackberry. On the palate, the wine is supported by an ample structure, silky and well-integrated tannins. The finish is very long and delicious.

Its bright ruby red color introduces us to a floral bouquet of iris and violets, along with scents of red berries and hints of aromatic herbs. It is fresh and generous on the palate, with extremely fine-grained tannins that integrate splendidly with its tangy notes and crisp red fruit. Suggestions of underbrush linger on the aromatic finish. An ideal red for accompanying traditional Tuscan dishes such as pappa al pomodoro (bread and tomato soup) or pici with game sauces, but also – served cool – selections of rustic cold cuts, a tartare of raw meat, testaroli with a basil pesto, or even fish with various sauces.

Magnificent shiny red colour with carmine undertones. Powerful and complex, the nose reveals a superb aromatic bouquet with aromas of very ripe red fruit, combined with notes of chocolate, tobacco and undergrowth. Generous and silky, the palate opens with a soft and round attack before revealing its elegant tannic structure, perfectly well balanced and very harmonious. A refined wine with remarkable harmony, a sign of great maturity in this particularly hot and dry vintage.

The wine has fresh, vibrant, lifted and pure aromas and flavors, with attractive cassis, pepper and licorice on the nose with a hint of nutty spice. The flavors explode with blackcurrant, plums and cinnamon layering over silky tannin and superb length. Bright, lifted and aromatic, with raspberry and chocolate mint characters. Full flavored and elegant, with dark fruit flavors of plum and blackberry, complemented by dark chocolate, licorice and white pepper spice.

Vinification takes place in oak fermenters for the reductive varieties (Mourvedre, Syrah) and in traditional enameled concrete tanks for the Oxidative grapes (all the others). Once the malolactic fermentation is finished, the Famille Perrin blends the different varieties. The blend is then aged in oak Foudres for a year before being bottled.
The 2020 Beaucastel has lots of Mourvèdre character in its bright red and blue fruits as well as spice, pepper, and assorted meaty nuances. With medium to full-bodied richness on the palate, it shows the fresh, elegant, yet still nicely concentrated style of the vintage and is unquestionably another impressive, classic vintage for this cuvée. It should offer some pleasure in its youth as well as evolve for 20+ years in cold cellars

This is a genuine ‘wow’ wine – you could be forgiven for thinking you were in the grand climats of Burgundy when tasting it. Fine and precise with fresh sugar snap pea and fennel, white nectarine and a hint of struck match. There is tension and length on the palate with classic Tolpuddle Vineyard acidity and fine, chalky texture adding complexity and interest. A lesson in elegance and restraint.
