This is the great wine of the Castello Nipozzano, from the vineyard Mormoreto planted in 1976. The first vintage was from the 1983 harvest, and since then has been produced only in the most favourable years. It was not produced from the harvests of 1984, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1998 or 2002. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot have, over time, formed an intimate bond with this terroir and now bring out all of its unique qualities. It is a wine of great depth, opulent and refined, that you can cellar for many years.
A deep ruby announces Mormoreto, almost opaque in its concentration. The nose is ultra-complex, delivering inebriating draughts of wild blackberry, raspberry, redcurrant, dried plum, dates, and wild red berry fruit, delicately lifted by floral impressions of sweetbriar and violets. Gradually emerging to deepen the rich bouquet even further are spicier nuances of vanilla, cocoa powder, tobacco leaf, and roast espresso bean, which act as a delicious foil to pungent notes of balsam and chlorophyll. A crisp, nervy acidity complements a suite of silky tannins, and both contribute to a palate that is notable for its warmth and roundedness. The A.S.W. is the first wine to acknowledge Amy Burch’s side of the family. Co-owner Amy has been deeply involved in Howard Park from the very early days. Coincidentally, Amy’s parents share the initials, A.S.W. Her father, Alex Stephen Wee, was a successful Singaporean business person; a self-made man who arrived in Singapore from East Malaysia in 1946 with 1 Singapore dollar. Amy’s mother, Annie Sheila Wee, had a cultural affinity with Red Wine due to her upbringing by French & Irish nuns as a boarder in Singapore. She still favours a glass of Shiraz to this day. The Wees came to Australia in the 1960s. Amy, is proud to commemorate her parents and the sum of all her family’s efforts in this special wine.
The A.S.W. is a stylistic departure for Howard Park, being a red blend of all Margaret River fruit, and the only wine with a significant use of American oak. Cabernet parcels are fermented in static fermenters fitted with heading down boards to maintain a submerged cap and gentle extract of flavour and tannins. The Shiraz parcels are fermented in 4t open fermenters with pneumatic pigeage and are retained on skins at the end of fermentation for several weeks. Matured separately in French oak for 18 months, before blending and then a further two months elevage in American oak after blending.

This wine takes its name from the walls that protected the monastery at Poblet during the Mercenary Wars. he unmistakable identity of Grans Muralles is thanks to the stony, slate ground (Licorella) of the region, and the grape varieties used to make it. One century after the phyloxera plague the Torres family have begun to recuperate autoctonous grape varieties believed to be extinct, such as Garro and Samso, using modern viticultural techniques. Together with red Garnacha, Mazuelo and Monastrell they create the unique spirit of this wine, aged in new French oak (Tronçais thin grain) for 18 months.
Warm and compact full-fruit aromas are spicy, creamy and integrated, with nothing held in reserve. A huge palate stampedes with grapy blackberry, ripe plum and burn. There’s power and some fiery aggression to this Catalonian classic, with chocolaty oak settling in alongside flush berry power on a loud finish.
