This pale-yellow-colour wine has aromas of apricot and flint. It fills the mouth with flavors of nectarine, pineapple, orange blossom and herbes de Provence. It is full textured for a White Wine, with a sense of weight on the palate that is offset by vibrant acidity.

Composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Pontet-Canet gives up beautifully fragrant notes of rosehip tea, lilacs, cinnamon stick, cloves, dried leaves and underbrush with a core of kirsch, raspberry coulis, warm plums and red and black currants plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate is refreshing, minerally and wonderfully elegant with a well-played texture of approachable, plush tannins and a long, fragrant finish. Beautiful. Aging took place in 50% new and 15% in second fill barrels and the remaining 35% in amphorae for 16 months, much of the material for which came from the soil at Pontet-Canet!

The wines of Chateau Pontet-Canet obtained organic certification from Ecocert and biodynamic certification from Biodyvin in 2010 and from Demeter in 2014.

It matches its intensity with focus, revealing its kaleidoscopic notes with precision and power. Fistfuls of rose petals, lots of minerals, a touch of leather, and a dusting of spices, licorice, espresso and underbrush frame this wine’s black and red fruits, combining to create a perfume that promises an exciting palate, and this wine does not disappoint! Vibrant acidity animates this concentrated Barbaresco that matches its dry extract with chewy tannins, fine minerality, and a gorgeous structure.

The unmistakable expression of Pinot Noir in Pomino, this wine embodies the uniqueness of the land, especially suited for varieties that convey its style and elegance. Pomino Pinot Nero features a delicate, floral, fruity bouquet accompanied by well-balanced, spicy notes. It impact with its elegant, bright ruby red colour and reflections of subtle garnet. Its bouquet is an explosion of red currants and berries together with sweet, spicy notes reminiscent of cinnamon, ginger and juniper. With time, balsamic notes emerge, finishing off with aromas of leather, coffee beans and cocoa powder. On the palette, fruity and liquorice flavours are present, accompanied by velvety tannin scents. The freshness is perfectly balanced by the alcoholic notes, while the finish is long and persistent.

Modest but sure of its presence, Clinet lies at one of the highest points upon the renowned plateau at the heart of Pomerol – instantly recognisable by its red shutters and beautiful roses. It is home to one of the oldest vineyards in the appellation, with traces of the vineyard’s existence dating back to 1595. This vineyard is equally famed for offering wine with an incomparable character and quality.

The blend for 2010 is largely dominated by 85% Merlot, with some Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Cabernet Franc also included. Inky/purple-colored, the wine has an exceptionally full-bodied, layered, moderately tannic mouthfeel and impressive power. Loads of melted chocolate/fudge and black fruits galore along with some coffee bean, mocha, as well as some background oak are all present in this big, formidably endowed, masculine style of Pomerol that will take longer to shed its tannin than the 2009. I would give this wine 5-6 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 30+ years. 

Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni beautiful, bright ruby-red colour with tinges of purple. The nose reveals fruity notes of cherry, blackberry, blueberry and mulberry. Equally marvellous are the spiced notes of cinnamon and star anise and light hints of black pepper. More general tertiary and toasted notes then emerge. It is soft and enveloping on the palate. The tannins are resolved. The finish is long and persistent.

An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries.

A wine of irrefutable purity, laser-like precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). This vineyard, which is situated on the high plateau of Pauillac adjacent to Mouton Rothschild, appears to have done everything perfectly in 2009. This cuvee should shut down in the cellar and re-open in a decade or more.

It is an attractive amber in appearance, with plenty of orangey highlights: its very color and viscosity seem to give an indication of its richness. On the nose, a whole series of positive and powerful sensations invite us to taste it: alcohol, oak, honey and a fresh, acidulous vein, hint at its austere strength. On the palate, we find the same precise and assertive sensations we observed on the nose.

Chateau Croizet-Bages 2000’s deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by creamy, black currant, cedar, and toast aromas, excellent purity, a rich, medium-bodied style, and sweet tannin in the moderately long finish. This lovely effort offers loads of fruit, sweet tannin, medium body, admirable delineation as well as purity, and surprising length.

This 10-year-old tawny port is crafted from a blend of premium wines that have been aged in seasoned oak casks for an average of 10 years. This extended maturation process imparts a beautiful amber hue to the wine and allows it to develop a complex bouquet of aromas, including dried fruits like apricots and raisins, complemented by notes of nuts, honey, and subtle spice. On the palate, Warre's 'Otima' 10 Years Tawny Port is rich and velvety, with a harmonious balance of sweetness and acidity, leading to a long and elegant finish.  The 'Otima' 10 Years Tawny Port is versatile and can be enjoyed in various settings. Possibly the wine of the vintage, the 2017 Vieux Chateau Certan is a blend of 81% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from the highest point on the Pomerol plateau. Deep purple, with a heavenly bouquet of creme de cassis, blueberries, scorched earth, crushed violets, tobacco, and earth, this beauty is full-bodied, has incredible depth of fruit, ripe, present tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This estate has been on fire of late, and this is undoubtedly a worthy follow-on to the otherworldly 2015 and 2016. It has the depth of fruit and texture to offer pleasure even today, yet a solid 7-8 years of cellaring are warranted, and it should be long-lived.
